REDBAG 222 MIXTURE FOR ADHESION AND REINFORCEMENT OF POLYSTYRENE FOAM BLOCKS AND MINERAL WOOL

The solution has an increased working time, even at very high temperatures, which makes it easy to create a perfectly even protective layer on the facade. Protects the facade from moisture.

  • Appointment

REDBAG 222 - a mixture intended for gluing facade thermal insulation boards made of mineral wool and expanded polystyrene and installing a reinforcing hydroprotective layer.

  • Preparing the base

The base must be dry, not frozen, strong, capable of bearing loads, free from dust, dirt, oils, fats, greases, residues of old paint, wax and other substances that reduce adhesion, have uniform water absorption, and meet the requirements of DSTU-N B A.3.1-23:2013, DSTU-N B V.2.6-212:2016. Remove weak areas of the base.

The concrete base must not be subject to shrinkage after finishing, therefore the base must be no younger than 3 months from the moment of laying the concrete, and the residual humidity of the concrete must be below 4%. Cast concrete bases have a smooth surface and low moisture absorption, so after cleaning before finishing, they must be treated with an adhesive primer for dense, smooth, low- or no-moisture-absorbing bases – REDBAG SUPERSTICK.

Bases made of cement, cement-lime and gypsum plasters must have a residual moisture content below 4%. Such bases have a high moisture absorption, so after cleaning before finishing, they must be treated with a deep penetration primer REDBAG ADHESIS.

Aerated concrete must be cleaned of dust and treated with a vapor-permeable primer for hygroscopic surfaces REDBAG INTERLACE before finishing.

  • Cooking method

Pour the REDBAG 222 dry mixture into a container with clean water (at the rate of 5.25-6 l of water per 25 kg or 210-240 ml per 1 kg of dry mixture), mix using a construction mixer until a homogeneous mass without lumps is formed. Leave for 3 minutes and mix again.

Do not add other materials to the prepared adhesive solution.

Attention! REDBAG mixtures are created on the basis of modern high-tech recipes using the latest additives from world manufacturers.

When preparing the mixture, use water only in the volume indicated on the packaging!

  • Work execution technology

Work should be carried out at a base temperature of +5 °C to +30 °C.

For gluing facade thermal insulation boards: Irregularities over 10 mm should be preliminarily leveled by plastering the surface (for example, with REDBAG 440 or REDBAG 444 plaster mixture). If the wall surface has irregularities up to 10 mm, the mortar mixture is applied to the facade thermal insulation board made of expanded polystyrene along the perimeter in a continuous continuous strip about 50 mm wide and additionally in the form of separate glue dots (at least five) in the middle of the board. The gluing area should be at least 40% of the board area. If the wall surface has irregularities up to 5 mm, the adhesive mixture is applied to the facade heat-insulating polystyrene foam board in strips at a distance of 20 mm from the edges of the board along its entire perimeter, and then in the middle. The strips applied along the perimeter must have gaps so that air bubbles do not form during gluing the board. If the wall surface has no deviations, then the adhesive solution is applied in a continuous manner over the entire surface of the heat-insulating board using a notched trowel with a tooth size of 10×10 mm (for mineral wool boards - only a continuous method of application). Before applying the adhesive solution to the mineral wool board, it is imperative to rub it into the fibers of the board. Do not fill the seams of facade heat-insulating boards with adhesive solution. Fasten the boards with dowels after 24 hours.

To install a leveling layer on mineral wool boards:

No later than 14 days after fixing the thermal insulation boards with dowels, a leveling layer of REDBAG 222 adhesive putty mixture must be applied. The thickness of the leveling layer should be 1-2 mm. For further work, take a technological break of at least 1-2 days.

To install a reinforcing hydroprotective layer:

On the level, carefully laid thermal insulation boards on the surface of the facade, apply the REDBAG 222 adhesive putty mixture using a notched stainless steel spatula with a tooth size of 10×10 mm. In the freshly applied layer of REDBAG 222 adhesive putty mixture, lay an alkali-resistant glass mesh in vertical panels with an overlap of adjacent panels of at least 100 mm, after which the surface is smoothed. The total thickness of the leveling and reinforcing hydroprotective layer should be 3-5 mm.

  • Mixture consumption

from 4 to 5 kg/m² (based on 1.3 kg per 1 m² with a layer thickness of 1 mm.

*The mixture consumption depends on the unevenness of the base and the skills of the performer.

REDBAG 222 mixture complies with: ETAG 004 and Ts.1.ZK5 GI3 DSTU B V.2.7-126:2011

Shelf life and storage conditions: 12 months from the date of manufacture, in a dry place, in undamaged original packaging. The date of manufacture is indicated on the packaging.
