  • Purpose:

    REDBAG RUBBER SHIELD – a ready-to-use, elastic, red-colored waterproofing coating based on acrylic latex with reinforcing fibers in the form of a mastic.

    It is designed to protect walls and floors (including heated floors) in damp and wet areas (such as bathrooms, shower rooms, etc.) inside buildings.

    It also provides protection for external structures such as open terraces, swimming pools, roofing elements, and facades from constant or periodic moisture exposure.

    Applied on the water-exposed side to:

    • Moisture-sensitive gypsum-based substrates (gypsum plaster, gypsum plasterboards and fiberboards, gypsum screeds, blocks, panels, etc.);
    • Mineral surfaces (concrete, brick, cement-sand, cement-lime, and lime plasters);
    • Hygroscopic surfaces (with high water absorption) such as aerated concrete, foam concrete, gas silicate, and shell limestone.
  • Surface preparation:

    The base must be dry, not frozen, strong, capable of bearing loads, free from dust, dirt, oils, fats, greases, residues of old paint, wax and other substances that reduce adhesion, have uniform water absorption, and meet the requirements of DSTU-N B A.3.1-23:2013, DSTU-N B V.2.6-212:2016. Remove weak areas of the base.
    Before applying waterproofing, it is necessary to exclude capillary penetration of moisture into the base. The relative humidity of the concrete base must be no more than 20%, cement screed - no more than 2%, gypsum plaster - no more than 0.5%, cement plaster - no more than 1%, for heated floors - no more than 0.3%.
    In case of using REDBAG RUBBER SHIELD on cement-sand, cement-lime, gypsum plasters and screeds made with mixtures of other manufacturers, for the strength and quality of which TM REDBAG cannot be held responsible, it is necessary to remove dust, then carry out wet cleaning, preventing the appearance of a continuous water film and treat with a deep penetration primer REDBAG ADHESIS.
    Before using REDBAG RUBBER SHIELD, cast concrete bases should be removed from dust, then carry out wet cleaning, preventing the appearance of a continuous water film and treat with an adhesive primer for dense, smooth, bases that absorb little or no moisture at all - REDBAG SUPERSTICK.
    Walls made of aerated concrete blocks must be cleaned of dust and treated with a vapor-permeable primer for hygroscopic surfaces REDBAG INTERLACE.
    Gypsumboard, gypsum fiber and magnesite boards and bases arranged using REDBAG TM mixtures should be dusted before applying REDBAG RUBBER SHIELD, then wet cleaned, preventing the appearance of a continuous water film, but in no case should priming be carried out.
    Attention! In case of violation of the base preparation technology, the manufacturer is not responsible for the further operational properties of the entire cladding layer.

  • Application method:

    Mix the mastic until smooth. REDBAG RUBBER SHIELD mastic is applied undiluted with a brush, a plastic roller or a rubber spatula to a completely dry base in at least two layers with a total thickness of 1 mm to 2 mm. The temperature of the waterproofing, air, and base during work should be from +15°C to +25°C, and the relative humidity of the air should not exceed 65%.
    First, treat the corners, seams, joints of building boards, heads of fastening screws on building boards, joints of surfaces made of different materials, the surface around the floor drain, the surface around plumbing fixtures with mastic.
    When treating corners, seams, joints of building boards and surfaces made of different materials, surfaces around plumbing fixtures and floor drains with mastic, use the REDBAG WATERPROOFING TAPE reinforcing tape in the following way: lay the REDBAG WATERPROOFING TAPE reinforcing tape in a fresh layer of mastic, press it tightly with a plastic (or rubber) spatula so that it is completely soaked with mastic. On the water drain on the floor, lay the REDBAG WATERPROOFING TAPE reinforcing tape in 2 layers. Then apply the mastic to the entire surface and let it dry for at least 2 hours (until the waterproofing changes color).
    Apply the second layer of waterproofing to the entire surface and let it dry for at least 8 hours (until the waterproofing changes color). Check the density (thickness) of the waterproofing film and, if thin and/or absorbent areas are found, treat them again with mastic. Let the surface dry until the waterproofing changes color (at least 8 hours).

    Attention!
    When arranging a "warm floor", waterproofing must be applied on top of the "warm floor" screed.
    The base covered with a layer of waterproofing has zero water absorption. Which blocks the penetration of cement milk into the base when using cement glue.

    Accordingly, for laying tiles on such a base, it is permissible to use only cement glue with a high content of polymer binders. And these are exclusively highly elastic cement glues.

    Therefore, for further cladding of the base treated with acrylic waterproofing, only REDBAG 114; REDBAG 115; REDBAG 116 can be used.

  • Consumption:

    From 0.8 to 1.4 kg/m² (based on 0.4–0.7 kg/m² per single coat).

    The actual consumption depends on the surface unevenness and the applicator’s skill level.

REDBAG RUBBER SHIELD complies with: DSTU EN 14891:2019 class DM

Shelf life and storage conditions: 24 months from the date of manufacture in undamaged original packaging. Do not allow freezing. The manufacturing date is indicated on the package.
